"Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street" : Émergence d'une stratégie narrative

Focusing on the complex syntactic mechanisms at work in “Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street”, this article brings to light the experimental quality in Woolfs writing. Though the short story clearly appears as a forerunner of Mrs Dalloway, it also differs from the novel to come in some crucial aspects. In the short story more than in the novel, Woolf’s narrative strategy seems to rely on constantly throwing the reader off balance.Cet article s’efforce de mettre au jour les mécanismes syntaxiques et narratifs complexes à l’œuvre dans la nouvelle «Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street» et de montrer comment ceux-ci témoignent de la nature expérimentale de ce texte ; texte qui annonce, tout en s’en différenciant, le roman à venir.
